How many times have you answered “busy” when someone asks you how your day is going? We’ve all been there, but have you ever stopped to think if we’re just using “busy” as an excuse?
We say we’re busy with work, family, and life in general, but is it really making us better people? Or are we just avoiding the things that make us feel uncomfortable or push us out of our comfort zones?
Think about it, if Vanity Fair or the New York Times called you to be featured in an upcoming piece, would you really decline because you’re too busy? And if Joe Rogan offered you the chance to reach 11 million listeners, would you say you don’t have time to spare?
It’s time to be honest with ourselves and others. “Busy” has become our default, but it’s holding us back from growth and connection with those around us. When was the last time you tried something new or learned a new skill? Don’t let busyness stop you from pursuing new experiences and opportunities.
Just like the book “He’s Just Not That Into You” showed women how to tell when a guy wasn’t interested, let’s not be too busy for the things and people that matter. The next time the word “busy” is on the tip of your tongue, ask yourself if you’re really that busy or if you’re just not being truthful. Your loved ones deserve the truth.
